CEO
HAREL DAHAN
As the founder of Harel Diamonds, my journey began with a deep passion for value – real value. I studied gemology professionally, earned international certification, and worked at the heart of the global diamond trade: the Israel Diamond Exchange.
There, I learned to see what others miss – the fine details, the hidden brilliance, the essence that makes each diamond truly unique.

The 4C’s of Diamonds
The 4C’s of Diamonds
What Every Buyer Should Know
By Empersini | Certified by GIA, IGI, CGL
When it comes to buying a diamond, understanding the 4C’s is essential. These four characteristics – Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight – are the universal standards used to evaluate a diamond’s quality and value. At Empersini by Harel Diamonds, we believe an informed client is an empowered one. Here’s everything you need to know before choosing the diamond that’s right for you.
1. Cut – The Sparkle Factor
Cut is arguably the most important of the 4C’s. It refers not to the shape (round, oval, radiant, etc.), but to how well the diamond has been cut and proportioned. A well-cut diamond reflects light beautifully, creating the brilliance and fire we all love.
- Grades range from Excellent to Poor
- A high-quality cut brings a diamond to life – even more than size or color
Empersini Tip: Always prioritize cut for maximum sparkle and visual appeal.
2. Color – The Whiter, the Brighter
Diamonds are graded on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). The less color, the higher the grade and typically, the higher the value.
- D–F: Colorless (rarest and most expensive)
- G–J: Near Colorless (great value with minimal visible tint)
- K–Z: Noticeable color tint
Empersini Tip: For white gold or platinum settings, choose D–H. For yellow gold, slightly warmer tones (I–J) can still look stunning and cost less.
3. Clarity – The Diamond’s Inner World
Clarity measures the presence of inclusions (internal marks) or blemishes (surface marks). While most diamonds have tiny imperfections, many are invisible to the naked eye.
- FL–IF: Flawless to Internally Flawless
- VVS1–VVS2: Very, Very Slightly Included
- VS1–VS2: Very Slightly Included (great balance of beauty and value)
- SI1–SI2: Slightly Included (visible under magnification, often eye-clean)
Empersini Tip: Don’t overpay for perfection. A well-placed inclusion in a VS or SI1 diamond can save you money without sacrificing beauty.
4. Carat – Size That Speaks
Carat refers to a diamond’s weight, not its physical size. One carat equals 0.2 grams. While bigger may seem better, the other C’s dramatically affect how large and brilliant a diamond appears.
- A well-cut 0.90ct can look as big and brilliant as a 1.00ct
- Carat weight affects price exponentially, not linearly
Empersini Tip: Choose the size that feels right for you – not just what tradition says.
Why the 4C’s Matter?
At Empersini, every diamond we offer is certified by leading institutes like GIA, IGI, or CGL, so you know exactly what you’re getting – nothing less. Whether natural or lab-grown, your diamond is selected for its exceptional quality, beauty, and integrity.
Choosing a diamond is a personal journey. The more you understand about what you’re buying, the more confident you’ll feel in your decision – and the more meaningful your jewelry will be.
